Marcela A. Di Blasi
Assistant Professor, Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies
Marcela Di Blasi is an Assistant Professor in the Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies Department. Her current book project, Love and Other Worlds: The Political Value of Romantasy, Pleasure, and Escape combines literary analysis, media studies, ethnographic research, and quantitative analysis of book sales to understand the significance of the genre's runaway success. The project is particularly interested in how the genre of romantasy provides occasion for authors, readers, and characters of color to reimagine both sexual desire and "happily ever after" as forms of resistance in political struggle. She is the co-convenor of the Latinx working group. She currently serves on Hanover's school board, and also on the board of directors for Jarvis Antonio Green Productions. Her published work appears in Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies. Di Blasi completed her Ph.D. at New York University in 2016, her M.Phil. at Cambridge University in 2010, and her B.A. at Williams College in 2008.
